As we wrangled our three years olds into their tutus and ballet shoes, a mom at the girls' dance school remarked, "You always look so good. I don't know how you do it!" Her voice held both delight and disbelief. She is a mom of four under five. God bless her, for real. I don't know how she does it! Anyway, I made some comment about how I look on non-work days. Admittedly, I wasn't honest with her. Im just as done up on non-work days as I am on work days. I didn't want her to feel bad about her sweatshirt and yoga pants. Because if I had four children, especially all under the age of five, you'd be lucky to find me in anything except pajamas.
But the truth is, I been stylin' since way back. I have a good sense of style now and have learned what colors and silhouettes looks good on my body and what to avoid. I mix high and low and am notorious for finding a killer dress at Target (when I should be buying toilet paper). I owe my sense of style to my older sister who was my first stylist and personal shopper. She made sure I was always fly, especially on school picture days. I remember when she was a senior in high school. I was in second grade and marveled at the outfits she wore to school. I'm talking leather pants and heels. And even how she hasn't lost her sense of style. So today's Throwback Thursday is dedicated to my big sissy, the woman who through her example taught me that you can be intelligent, wise, and stylish as all get out!
