Testimony Tuesday: On Busyness, Stillness and Some Flicks / by Donna Olivia Owusu-Ansah

Alright. Alright. Alright.

I confess that I haven’t written much this month beyond a sermon here and a Word-Up Wednesday there.

I’ve been busy. Between birthdays, Mother’s Day, chaperoning school trips, hiking with Girl Scouts, play-dates and family get togethers, it’s been tough to sit down to write. It’s been tons of fun, but as I often joke I’m an older mother and my recovery time takes longer.

I’ve also been intentionally quiet. It may sound like an oxymoron, given how busy I just said I was, but I’m also in a season of stillness. I’m on a social media hiatus. I’ve been praying more, journaling more, and walking more. I’ve turned inward and upward.  It’s like, “Are you there God? It’s me, Donna!”

But honestly, all of that was planned. The busyness is characteristic of May 4th through July 7th in our family. The stillness was deliberate and necessary. From time to time I have to tune out the noise in order to hear clearly from God. What I didn’t plan was for Reverend Mother Runner to become like a ghost town.

Cue tumbleweeds.

Our busy season is not over yet. Hubby’s birthday is tomorrow. My birthday is next week. All followed by a dance recital, pre-k graduation, our wedding anniversary. Did I mention preaching and an exciting opportunity I have with the Social Justice Leadership Initiative at the Theological School at Drew University? Whew!

And my stillness isn’t over, either. Truth be told, I don’t know when I’ll return to Facebook and Instagram.

All that said, I can’t promise I’ll be writing a lot. What I can promise is that I’ll roll through with photos until I have more time to write the way I want to, the way I love to...

Until then, check out these flicks from the past month.
